At Zenger Farm, we stand up to voice our outrage at the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade and so many others. We stand against the continued systemic violence, including police brutality, that has terrorized Black Americans for centuries. We believe Black Lives Matter.
As a justice centered food access and education non-profit, we believe nourishment is a basic human right and that the root causes of inequitable food access – racism, poverty, colonialism and other systems of oppression – must be addressed to create a just food system.
We are guided by a vision of a healthy, resilient community, where the wellbeing and prosperity of children and adults, regardless of race, geography or socio-economic status, is enhanced through access to affordable, plentiful and nourishing foods. In order to realize this vision we must confront anti-Black racism.
There is so much work to do, and at Zenger Farm we are committed to: centering BIPOC voices and listening to what is needed; calling on white people to acknowledge and work to dismantle white supremacy in all of its implicit and explicit forms, and acknowledging and actively addressing the racism embedded within our own food systems.
We invite you to join us in this work. Please also check out and support some of the incredible community organizations working locally for change right now:
Here is a list of anti-racism resources compiled by activists and artists for reading, listening, and watching.
In solidarity,
Zenger Farm
